Don't let the chilly air dampen your dating life. There are plenty of things for you and your partner to do.

If the thought of going on a date in the arctic air has you hibernating for the winter months, maybe you just need a new list of activities to heat up your enthusiasm. Here are a few ideas sure to ignite chemistry between you and your date.

Stay Inside With Your Date

  • Have a coffee shop picnic. Buy some hot cocoa, grab the Sunday paper, and head to your nearest coffee joint. Pick one with a few overstuffed and very comfy chairs. Have fun people watching while you sip your java.

  • Catch an afternoon movie. Instead of the same old place, choose a theater that caters to adults only. Get some wine and cuddle up in a love seat while you enjoy the show.

  • Spend an afternoon watching other people break a sweat. Attend a basketball or hockey game. Even if you’re not a big sports fan, the music and atmosphere make it a fun date.

  • Catch off-off-off Broadway entertainment. That’s right: community theater. When is the last time you checked your local town for some stage drama? Call up your library or town hall for more information.

  • Have fun at home with a dinner and DVD night. Make your dinner relate to the movie. For example, create a list of recipes the main character might enjoy. Or if the flick is set in a particular city, munch on snacks, wine, or cheese from the area.

  • Have a game night with friends or even with just the two of you.

  • Stay inside! Pretend there’s a blizzard outside and the two of you can’t make it out. Cuddle up together and watch your favorite reality show or guilty TV pleasure, such as America’s Next Top Model, back to back.

  • Malls are a great resource for winter dates. Meet for a quick bit to eat in one location while you window-shop the rest of the afternoon. If you come across a fountain, don’t forget to throw a penny in and make a wish!
Let Your Car Take You on a Dating Adventure

  • If your romance had advanced to the serious stage, why not plan a weekend getaway trip? There’s no better way to bond with your new love. Keep the plans simple. Even a night by the hotel fireplace is better than out in the cold.

  • Make your date feel like he or she is in the movies by taking them on a carriage ride. Many major cities offer this type of fun, and while the cost can sometimes be pricey, it’s worth it to be able to snuggle up with your honey while you take in the skyline.

  • Go on a treasure hunt - with a twist. Plan out clues in advance and drive to locations where your date will have to guess the next spot. Put three or four local landmarks on your list and give your date a prize for each one they get right.

Enjoy the Cold Air

  • Ice-skating is free most places, and provides a romantic backdrop for two people on a date. You can rent skates at any facility. If you have your own, hit one of the local parks. Can’t skate? No problem. Just go slowly and have your date keep their arms around you.

  • Go cross-country skiing. Burn some calories while you take in the beautiful white winter scenery.

  • Build a snowman in the backyard. And while you’re rolling snowballs, don’t forget to throw a few at each other.

  • Remember how much it was to go sledding down a big hill with your pals? It’s even more fun with a date.
