Anticipation continues for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton as two official engagement photos have just been released. The Prince and his bride-to-be chose one formal photo, and another that was more casual in nature. The casual photo shows Prince William with his arms around Middleton in an embrace, as they both look toward the camera smiling. The photo reflects their youth and happy nature.
Prince William and Kate Middleton Casual Royal Engagement Photo
Prince William had on a khaki-brown colored suit with a white Turnbull and Assert shirt. Over the shirt peaks a Brunello Cucinelli sweater. Middleton wore an off-white Whistles blouse, with her hair down. The photo is a close up, showing the couple from the waist up, as bright light from a window beams in behind them. The famous engagement ring, once wore by William's mother Princess Diana, is shown clearly in the photo as Middleton has her left hand on Prince William's chest.
Two Royal Engagement Photos, One Casual, One Formal
The formal portrait, meanwhile, shows the couple standing together in the Council Chamber linked to the Clarence House. William has on a blue Turnbull and Asser suit, and Middleton wears a cream colored Reiss dress. Her hair is down and her left hand is on William's right arm, which again clearly shows her engagement ring. The couple shows more reserved (yet still sincere) smiles.
Royal Photographer Mario Testino Chosen to Take Engagement Photographs
Prince William chose Mario Testino specifically to take the photos because he has worked with the photographer before. Testino is also familiar with William's brother, Prince Harry, from a 2004 photo shoot for Harry's 20th birthday. In that photo, the younger prince is laughing beside his father and brother. Perhaps it is this ability to capture the lighter yet formal moments of royal life that prompted William to chose Testino for the engagement photos.
While Testino kept touchup artists on hand throughout the photo shoot, Middleton decided to do her own makeup. She did, however, get her hair down by James Pryce (from the Richard Ward salon), a stylist she has used on many occasions.
Testino said he was "very happy" to be the photographer for such a momentous occasion as the engagement photos for Prince William and his future bride. The couple's happy nature seemed to inspire Testino, who echoed the thoughts of many well wishers when he said, "They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together."
